December Field Trip - FM Global Learning Center's SimZone

The FM Global Learning Center’s SimZone is a state of the art hands-on training facility that provides the opportunity to better understand a wide variety of property hazards and protection solutions that may be present at facilities world-wide. FM Global trains their worldwide team of engineers at this facility in addition to providing training to their insured clients on how to protect their properties. The SimZone labs provide the ability to create hazard scenarios without any real hazards. These simulated hazards involve building construction, steam and industrial heating equipment, electrical components, ignitable liquids, and much more.

The SimZone also presents the opportunity to explore and understand fire protection components and how the systems work with proper test procedures. The riser lab contains 18 different sprinkler riser configurations and the fire pump room contains independent electric and diesel driven fire pumps. The sprinkler lab allows for the ability to demonstrate sprinkler discharge patterns and how they are adversely affected by obstructions.

The SimZone tour is sponsored by FM Global. SFPE New England has decided to collect a $20 donation to the A.L. Brown Scholarship Fund as a registration fee. Please consider making additional donations through the chapter website. Registration will be limited to 40 attendees.  

After the event, attendees are invited to relocate to Castle Island Brewing (31 Astor Ave. in Norwood) for holiday festivities. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

**Please note that FM Global requires all Learning Center attendees to be fully vaccinated. Non-FM Global workers will be asked to provide visual proof of vaccination status prior to entering the Learning Center. See link below for additional information.
