A.L. Brown Scholarship Fund Application

The Scholarship Committee of the New England Chapter of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers is seeking candidates to receive awards from the A. L. Brown Scholarship Fund for the upcoming school year. The goal of this Scholarship is to encourage students to consider a career in engineering related to Fire Protection.  Past individual awards have typically ranged from $1,000 to $7,000. However, recipients have been awarded as much as $10,000.

An applicant shall be able to meet the following criteria for the upcoming academic school year:

• Demonstrate a sincere interest in pursuing a career in fire protection engineering.
• Permanently reside in and have graduated from a secondary school located in Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, or Vermont; OR, currently attend a college or university located in New England.
• Be registered as a full-time student at an institution that has ABET - accredited curricula for the 2024-2025 school year.
• Be matriculating towards a Bachelor of Science or graduate degree in an engineering discipline.

Scholarship applications are available and completed applications must be postmarked by April 19, 2024.  The recipients will be awarded at the October 2024 meeting after confirming academic status and eligibility criteria.
