Our March meeting will present and explore a variety of challenges and design strategies for foam extinguishing systems. This will include a review of the different NFPA standards for foam systems and different types of foam concentrate. Some basic design considerations and review the types of systems available along with required equipment will be discussed. Lastly, we will look at the variety of discharge nozzles and components to distribute the foam.
Bio:Todd Stevens is employed at The Viking Corporation, headquartered in Hastings, Michigan, a manufacturer of Fire Protection sprinklers, valves and devices. Mr. Stevens presently works under the Technical Service department as a National Technical Representative, with the responsibility of working with specific target groups such as, specifying architects, engineers, industry groups and AHJ’s to increase technical knowledge of Viking’s fire protection products. Mr. Stevens has an Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering, is NICET certified in sprinkler system layouts and is a Certified Fire Protection Specialist. He is active in numerous fire protection associations and serves on the NFPA 14 Technical Committee. Mr. Stevens has also served as an instructor at Northeastern University in Boston, MA, teaching Intro to Fire Protection in the Building Design and Management Division.
