The New England Chapter of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers is pleased to invite you to the 2013 Annual Seminar on Fire Protection & Life Safety Changes being held on Wednesday March 20, 2013. This event has been developed to inform you of some of the latest applications, code requirements, and trends in fire protection system design and performance.

If you are involved in fire or safety engineering and design, code enforcement, facilities management, or risk management, this seminar will be of interest and value to you. The proper design, installation, and maintenance of fire protection and building systems are critical to their performance during a fire emergency.

The seminar will provide ample opportunities to share ideas, expand your resources and network to enhance your personal development. Take advantage of the experience of industry experts and peers to gain knowledge of current fire protection system issues and solutions.

This years seminar will feature the following speakers in four sessions:  

Session 1 - Matt Klaus and Chad Duffy from the National Fire Protection Association will present on the critical changes in the 2013 editions of NFPA 13: Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems and NFPA 20: Standard for the Installation of Stationary Pumps for Fire Protection.

Session 2 - Robert Schifiliti from R.P. Schifiliti Associates Inc. will present on the critical changes in the 2013 edition of NFPA 72: National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code.

Session 3 - Dave Jacoby from Simpson Gumpertz and Heger Inc. will present on fire safety requirements of existing buildings.

Session 4 - Dana Haagensen from the MA Department of Fire Services will present an update on the regulations for processing hazardous materials promulgated recently in the Massachusetts State Fire Code (527 CMR Section 33), including interpretations issued by the MA Board of Fire Prevention Regulations within the past year and the fire service perspective of experience to date with Section 33 of 527 CMR.

The early registration period ends Wednesday, March 13th. All early registrations will receive a $25 discount. AHJs and students eligible for special event pricing must be received during the early registration period.
