    The National Fire Sprinkler Association will holding a training class on seismic bracing for sprinkler systems.  The class will be held on September 20, 2016 in Weymouth, MA.  More information is available on the NFSA website.

    Congrats to "Team Sam" for winning the 2015 SFPE New England Chapter Trivia Night. Sixteen teams battled it out in a pub style trivia event last night to see who really is the smartest FPE. Turns out, it's Sarge Slicer, Robert Schifiliti, Dick Davis, Jeff Harrington, and Tony Schifiliti. Second place went to team KTTE- Barry Chase, Seth Sienkiewicz, Patrick Sullivan, and Vernon Gross.

    Thanks to all 60+ attendees and to the 11 manufacturers who showed up for the technology expo. Hope everyone had fun and learned a little something about fire protection engineering.

    At the October dinner meeting of the New England Chapter, the recipients of the A.L. Brown Scholarship for the 2014-2015 academic year were presented with their scholarships.  The scholarship recipients are:

    • Brianna Gillespie, WPI - $3,000 (A.L. Brown Scholar)
    • Jamie Pierce, WPI - $2,000
    • Mariela Qirici, WPI - $2,000
    • Jonathan Sajdak, University of Maryland - $1,000
    • Minchao (Matt) Yin, WPI - $1,000
    The scholarship recipients that were able to attend the dinner meeting are pictured below (from left: Brianna Gillespie, Matt Yin, and Jamie Pierce).  Congratulations to all the recipients!

    The application forms for the IMFSE (International Master of Science in Fire Safety Engineering) program are still open for self-sponsored students.

    Deadline: 30 April 2014.

    The joint program of Ghent University, Lund University and The University of Edinburgh runs from September 2014 to June 2016.
